Daily Wear: My favourite sale bargain so far....

Hi guys,
Sorry for the long absence - we spent New Year's with my parents (we only got back yesterday) and frankly I was having so much fun that I didn't open my computer the whole time I was there!

I also haven't hit as many of the January sales as I was planning to: but I did make time to check out a couple, including Topshop, River Island, and Dorothy Perkins. And my favourite sale purchase (so far) is from the Dorothy Perkins sale, believe it or not: a (p)leather jacket with gold stud detailing reduced to £35. Not the investment buy leather jacket I was looking for, but it fit so nicely I just couldn't resist it! And here it is:

Jacket - Dorothy Perkins, Leopard print dress - River Island, H by Hudson boots - c/o Sarenza, Pucci bag - c/o TK Maxx, Necklaces - vintage and gifted

You might remember this dress because I picked it up from River Island a couple of months ago in the mid season sales. I seem to be having a real leopard print obsession at the moment: I picked up another leopard print dress and two leopard print tops from the River Island sale last week too!

And if you're wondering why I've shown you the close up of my new gold locket, that would be because my son got it me for Christmas! It has pictures of the three of us (the boy, hubby, and I) inside, and the back is engraved with a special message - too cute for words. I haven't not worn it for a single day since Christmas.

A bit late to ask I know, but better late than never! How was your New Year? And what's your favourite/best sale purchase that you've made so far?

Daily wear: Back to Black!

Hi guys,
I've given up. I surrender. I can't make my summer clothes warm and wearable on these cold gloomy days. I also can't take looking at my untrimmed, rooty hair any more: tomorrow's trip to the hair dressers can't come soon enough! Although it's only from Primark (and I have several much more expensive real leather jackets, I love the way my leather bomber jacket fits. Whenever I throw this over an outfit (however boring!) I know it's going to look OK. Here's how i'm wearing it today:

Dress from River Island, Scarf from Beta Fashion, Belt from Warehouse, Jacket from Primark, and Boots from Topshop.

I am completely in love with these pixie boots, which I got from the Topshop outlet about three weeks ago. I intended to save them for next winter, but haven't stop wearing them since I got them. They rrp'ed at £65, but I got them for £20 BOGOF. Bargain!

On the bright side, the weather forecast says the temperatures are supposed to peak at 31 degrees this weekend...Maybe I returned to the dark side too soon!

Daily wear: Black and grey (again!)

Black and grey is my favourite colour combination, both for winter and for summer - in the summer the grey just gets lighter! When I put together this outfit this morning my main incentive was that I wanted to show off my new Luella dress. There were so many options for my hard earned cash in Luella, but I choose these soft cotton dresses because they're so easy and versitile and I can wear them all summer long (rather than once or twice in an evening like some of the silk dresses!)

Photobucket

Dress from Luella, Leather jacket from River Island, Snood from H&M. I teamed this with my tassled loafers (which were a bargain at £10 from Primark) and my bat skull necklace.

I am aware I could've done so much more with this outfit which is pretty boring! The dress is versitile though, so i'm thinking of loads of things I want to do with it! I've also stopped wearing my winter coat and my boots this week - I know it's still cold outside, but i'm sick of the sight of them! The winter just lasts too long- especially when you have two new pretty cotton dresses to wear!!

PRPS collaborates with Start*

* As in Brix Smith Start of Start Boutique!

I'm not an expert on denim brands; I very rarely even wear jeans. In fact, I only own one pair and although I love them, I rarely wear them out the house. So i'm definitely not one to judge the jeans in the new PRPS/Start collaboration (nice as they look!), which launches tomorrow night.
I am, however, in a position to lust soo hard after this cute-but-tough biker jacket with it's gorgeous studded heart detail on the back:

Yum, yum, and double yum (with a cherry on the top!) In the blurb about the collection, Brix said “I’ve studied and been aware of almost every denim label on the planet and Prps is simply the best, the coolest, the Rolls Royce of denim. When they asked me to collaborate with them I screaming at the top of my lungs with excitement. And thus, Prps Heart Start was born.”

Now, I am prepared to confess that i'm rather in love with Brix Smith Start, or at least, with her TV persona (we've never met!) She is certainly a match for beloved Gok on his fashion fix and almost every week I agree with at least something she says about buying investment pieces over shopping on the highstreet- although she takes it to price extremes I could never even imagine, and I happen to love the highstreet! I think the collection will go down well with the various young, hip trendsters often associated with the START boutiques.
.
Now if someone could just lend me the £850 I would need for (no, not my rent but, you guessed it..) that jacket! Sigh. But if you do have the dosh to blow on either the jacket or the jeans then both are exclusive to START Boutique instore and online.

Yo, i'll tell ya what I want, what I really really want...

OK, I realise that's a Spice Girls song, but the Spice Girls and All Saints were recording at around the same time, so that felt both topical and strangely right.

I love All Saints. Their jersey tops and dresses in particular are cut so beautifully, and whats not to love about a highstreet store whose main colour palette for every season is black?! And I really want all of their shirt dresses for a very funky update to my usual work wardrobe. But I think the vast majority of their stock is laughably overpriced; at least for my limited purse. It is, after all, Topshop quality (and I balk at Topshop when i'm having a miserly week!) at more than double the prices!
.
However if we suspended reality for 5 minutes and dumped me in the middle of a nice big All Saints store, here is what i'd be waddling out with bags laden of:

Dresses
I've shown lots of dresses, because they're the thing I love most about the shop! And contrary to popular belief, they hug curves like a dream!
Left to right: Aya mini dress £140, Lindita bustle dress £125, Cleo evening dress £350

Gilet

Oh how my heart yerns for this gilet! If the tassles weren't so "a la mode" I might spring the £295 for this and call it an investment piece; I have been looking to replace my Primark pleather jacket (which looks great but feels awful!) with a quality leather piece. Definitely something to think about....

Cardigan
My favourite thing! Like the title of my post, the eyelets seem so nineties. And I love the sporty appeal of this hooded style top without the hood. Perfect for toughening up those floaty girly dresses i'm so very very fond of.
Bag

For my "and finally", a bag I admire every time i'm near an All Saints store. I feel like a stuck record, because i've already mentioned it twice this week, but I really do think a new bag can do wonders for upgrading an outfit that you love, but dont think is really "in" anymore (if you care about that sort of thing, of course!) Either way, it would look lovely with my imaginary new gilet....
.
Happy fictional shopping!

Primark studded jacket on sale!

Last month I made my new Primark leather biker jacket my Primark Pick of the week. And i'm sure you'll all be pleased to know it's holding up well. Here are a couple of last months pics as a reminder: It's also the jacket I wore to the arutyunov show that I posted my review of yesterday.

However this blurb isn't just a recap of all the other lovely posts i've written, but a prelude to my exciting news! For all of you wonderful folks who admired my studded biker jacket, coveted it for your own, or who land on this page whilst searching for leather biker jackets (according to my stat counter, this happens alot!) I have momentous news.

For the jacket has been reduced and is now £5 on the Primark sale rail!!
.
I saw it in the Oxford Circus store last night (I had a bit of a Primark binge that I will be writing all about tomorrow) and there were still 2 full rails of them left, so if you're quick, you might still catch them! I don't know what other stores it is being stocked in, but if you want the jacket its probably worth popping into your local primark today or tomorrow to check it out. That shop is crazy; i've never known anywhere with such a high stock turnover, so if you leave it any later than that you'll probably miss out!
.
This is todays heads up for all you Primark lovers out there! Aren't I good to you!?

What a Stud Muffin!

Sorry if the titled lured you in and you expected to see hot young men in skimpy Armarni underwear.... this post is actually less interesting than that: this is a Daily Wear AND Primark Pick of the Week post, all rolled into one. Here is what I am wearing today, if you can ignore the fact that I look like I havent slept in a week!:

Tiered dress - Warehouse
Pleather jacket - Primark
Fingerless gloves - Primark
Everything else you've seen before!

The Pick of the Week aspect comes in with this amazing black studded pleather leather jacket. The collar folds over itself because of the side zip, giving the amazing studs the best possible exposure. It's studded on both sides of the collar, although you can;t see that too well here, as my hair is in the way! And its not only the collar that is studded: there are studs and zips on the cuffs and around the hem as well. And all this for a smidgen under £15! Here are the details:

The shrunken nature of the jacket wouldn't be my immediate choice for my top heavy frame, but teamed with black it blends in at the waist and looks so much more expensive than it was, and I just couldn't walk past all those studs!! I really love the rock chick look, but i'm just not sure i'm cut out for it: note how I had to match my nail varnish to my fingerless gloves for a more polished finish! Not sure you'd catch Debbie Harry doing that!

So there you have it: how much of a stud muffin is that jacket??

But for those of you still disapointed that it was just me full clothed, and not a hottie in some tight briefs, here's a little something to brighten up your day:
I believe this is the Italian rugby team rocking some D&G pants!

Lots of love,
Tor x
