Turning Japanese, I really think so!

Lovely fiancé has just returned from a two week business trip to Hong Kong and Tokyo, and I just can't resist sharing the lovely Hello Kitty gifts he brought for me: as i've mentioned more than once before, my love of Hello Kitty knows no bounds, and if it was up to me that adorable little kitty would adorn my whole house. We're all allowed our own moments of dubious taste, and this is mine!!

First up is this big slouchy leather handbag - I was shocked when I saw it because it's actually pretty subtle and usually these Hello Kitty accessories are made of pleather whereas this one feels as soft as butter!

I LOVE the big Hello Kitty hair turban; perfect for wearing post bath with my Hello Kitty PJ's. There are also Hello Kitty socks, the cutest ice cube tray, a mug and spoon, and if you're wondering about the Hello Kitty figurine sat on the toilet, I think this picture probably explains what made him choose that:

Rather than have Hello Kitty stuff all over the house I try to concentrate the collection in one room - in this case the bathroom! The toilet mat is also new.

All of these presents were lovely surprises, but sadly, despite hunting every Sanrio shop he passed, Mike couldn't find the one present I asked him for: the Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel bride and groom plush dolls. So whilst I know this is an off piste request (normal fashion service resuming tomorrow!) if anyone knows where I can buy them in London, i'll be forever in your debt!

All I want is Kitty!!

Morning all,

In honour of my cousin who had a new baby called Hannah Kitty this weekend, and because I love Hello Kitty more than anything in the world (despite the fact that i'm 25 next month and I should know better!) here is the new hello Kitty range in collaboration with Mac cosmetics. The collection is 60s inspired (the focus of my MA dissertation and a passion for years!) and I actually really like Mac cosmetics, so it's the perfect triple whammy!

This is the item i want most. In fact I want it so much it hurts! Soft black pleather 14" Hello Kitty doll in a 60’s style black & white dress with pink trim and iconic pink bow. Limited edition. Black and pink? Hello Kitty? 60s dress? It's like it was made for me!

I love the sickly fluoro pink colour of this lipstick almost as much as I love the retro Hello Kitty casing. Is anyone else sensing a massacre in my make up bag followed by a serious Kitty-fest!?

The thing I love about the blusher is the attention to detail: Not only does it have the same patterned casing as the lipstick (all 60s and lovely!) it also has her face embossed on the powder! Love it!

There's loads more; lip glosses and nail varnish, eye shadow and eye dust. But the final thing to grab my attention (and as soon as I get near a MAc, my wallet) are these:

Exclusively created for the Hello Kitty collection, a half-lash with criss-cross overlapping effect on the outer corner. Provides the look of big, wide “kitten eyes.” Limited edition. I want kitten eyes and I want them now: Oh to be half as cute as Hello Kitty!

Love Tor

PS-At the risk of sounding like a spoilt child I feel the need to reiterate again: I really really want that doll!!!

You're a tiger, baby!

Hey everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I feel like i've gained at least 2 extra stone (that I definitely didn't need!) and have gorged and indulged myself in ways I didn't think possible. Life is definitely good in the Brierley winter wonderland:

For Christmas I received many wonderful gifts; much needed new straighteners, a sewing machine (the DIY begins here!) and these wonderful boots from my parents:

Just when I thought my love of hello kitty couldn't get more elabourate, they went and made ugg boots. Normally I don't even like uggs, but now I can't get enough of them: I love these shoes!!
.
I was also pampered by my sisters and the rest of the family with some lovely soap and glory products, pajamas, and so much more. My especially talented baby sister even made me a necklace!
.
On the highstreet fashion front though, I thought the gift you would all most like to see is the lovely new jacket my boyfriend bought me:

See how I work it? I'm a tiger baby, yeah!!
.
I spent today and yesterday hitting the sales, and frankly I'm exhausted! I will write up my exploits and begin my lengthy sales analysis tomorrow: I'm sure you wait with baited breath!

.
In the meantime, Happy New Year!
.

Here comes George......

I feel like i'm turning into a one lady George of Asda cheerleader lately. As you can't have failed to have noticed, I LOVE George, and i'm not afraid to say it! It's as cheap as Primark (my other great love), but the attention to detail is better and, more importantly if you can't afford to replace your basics as often as you like, it lasts longer.

With this in mind, I decided it was time to view George's new season collection from the comfort of my bed and relax whilst enjoying a guilt-free fashion binge (Because even if you like something from George, you can't buy it on line, so you can't be tempted to cyber-indulge!)

First of all I feel I should point out that the George online range is significantly smaller than their in store collections, so it's difficult to get an overall feel for what's available, but even from this reduced range there were some key pieces that would slot into my wardrobe perfectly.OK, so it's not a wardrobe staple, or a key piece for everyone's wardrobe. But I love Hello Kitty and i'm not even sorry. The George Tshirts are usually really soft and a great fit. And I really like the cutesy graphic pattern on this T: £8 well potentially spent.

I LOVE this pink and grey hounds tooth scarf (£5) It'll look perfect once the weather gets a bit better (here's hoping) teamed with my yellow high necked linen jacket. I enjoy the early 80s pairing of yellow pink and grey. And I have a sneaky suspicion it will be a great investment piece, as Marc Jacobs ready to wear show at NY fashion week yesterday was full of vibrant coloured hounds toth pieces: so the scarf will still look great next Autumn/Winter too.
Nothing like being inspired by Marc Jacobs for a fiver!

I've become obsessed with finding the perfect checked shirt lately. And although I won't know for sure until I try it on (and try it on I will) this shirt seems like pretty close to perfect. Of course the matchy fabric belt will have to go- they're my pet hate, but with a high waisted brown leather belt, this shirt would look perfect with skinny jeans and red heels.

So there you have it. George at Asda does it again: 3 items, 3 perfect new season looks for less than the cost of a night in the pub. And you can't argue with that.

Lots of Love
Tor

Hello, Kitty.....

Hi guys,
As a self-confessed cute and kitsch junky, i've always loved anything with a cartoon character on it. In fact, as a 15 year old girl, my most treasured possession was a blue plastic Miffy bucket bag which I carted around with me everywhere (much to my mothers distress!)

My favourite character though has always been Hello Kitty. For those of you less obsessed than I with this adorable cat here are some fun Hello Kitty facts:

-Hello Kitty symbolises generosity, innocence, kindness, and most importantly, friendship.
-Kitty lives in London with her mama, papa, and twin sister Mimi.
-Hello Kitty weighs the same as 3 apples.
-Her trademark is the red bow she always wears above her left ear.

Hello Kitty started life back in 1974. And my obsession with the creature has been a long-running annoyance to my family and friends; particularly my husband who doesn't enjoy Saturday afternoons hunting for new and exciting kitty goods half as much as you'd think!

Imagine my surprise then, when Kitty-fever hit the highstreet:

Dr Marten Hello Kitty boots (I desparately want the bow shoe version of these, which are just £91). These hit the stores last year, but are still available to buy online: who could resist?
Photobucket
Hello Kitty Loves Liberty - this range at Boots is seriously gorgeous, and if you're quick and hit the sales, you can pick them up at half price: I got this set, which includes a hand wash, hand lotion, and soap dish, for £5. The original price was £10. Bargain!!

Finally, if you're looking for Hello Kitty clothing, don't overlook your local supermarket. George at Asda and Clothing at Tesco both have excellent Hello Kitty franchises. And H&M always impresses me with their Hello Kitty collections: both fashion and cosmetics.

I'm not suggesting we all wander around covered in cartoon advertising ala a small infant (that, after all, is my thing!) But sometimes I think we fashionistas- I use that phrase loosely- take things a little seriously. And if anyone can make us loosen up and realise that fashion is supposed to be fun, that someone is Hello Kitty....

Love Tor xx
