Lip prints for National Kissing Day

Hi guys,
This Thursday is National Kissing Day: A day to pucker up and get your smooch on! National Kissing Day is a UK-wide awareness campaign running on 20th June 2013 and research reveals that 65% of people will celebrate the day with a digital kiss - I, for one, tend to always add a kiss or two at the end of every email I send. Which I know isn't very professional, but it's a digital instinct I don't really even think about. However I am much more interested in some smooch-y fashion, and lip prints are just 'So hot-right-now'!.

Here are a couple of options that seem just perfect for wearing for National Kissing Day:
photo kissingday_zps2efd5da8.jpgModel shot: Top from Quiz, £10.99
Pink and white lip print dress, Boohoo.com, £16
'Kiss me' pendant necklace, Accessorize, £6
Lulu Guiness silver lips clutch, John Lewis, £245
Diane Von Furstenberg trousers, Matches.com, £112

I have always wanted one of these Lulu Guiness lip clutches: I lust after them at their press day every season! I also really like the DVF trousers which are a more subtle take on the lip print, and would look so gorgeous worn all summer long teamed with metallic sandals and a simple black or white vest. For a more subtle and affordable take though, realistically I will end up wearing a lip necklace like the Accessorize one: add a simple chiffon top and skinny jeans and I'm ready to go!

When you have an active little man like Wilbur, being forced to find the time to take five minutes for yourself and have a good old snog with your husband can only be a good thing! Will you be having a kiss for National Kissing Day? And will you be wearing something red/pink/kiss themed for the occasion?

Lusting after designer sunglasses at bargain prices!

Hi guys,
I'm a bit of a sunglasses addict, but I'm also a clumsy oaf: I manage to lose, sit on, or otherwise break at least one pair of sunglasses every season. So getting designer shades for less than £20 is like the holy grail for me! It means I get to wear the sunglasses I love all summer long, but I'm not too heartbroken when their sell by date inevitably arrives.

Enter TK Maxx: home of the designer discount, and my favourite place to find sunglasses! They've just had a new drop of shades arrive on their website, and there is a great selection available. Whether you want aviators, vintage-style frames, coloured sunglasses, or wrap around shades, there's something for everyone: photo tkmaxxsunglasses_zps0642836d.pngRow 1 left to right: Diane Von Furstenberg aviators, £19.99. Nicole Fahri retro sunglasses, £19.99. Brown Calvin Klein sunglasses, £19.99.
Row 2 left to right: Missoni oversized frames, £24.99. Jil Sander oval sunglasses, £29.99. Christian Dior red metal sunglasses, £69.99.
Row 3 left to right: Nicole Fahri purple sunglasses, £19.99. Hugo boss tortoiseshell frames, £59.99. Calvin Klein white sunglasses, £19.99.
Row 4 left to right: Mugler brown sunglasses, £19.99. Guess wraparound sunglasses, £24.99. John Richmond aviators, £16.99

I scoured through all of the designer sunglasses available twice before finally settling on ordering the oversized Missoni ones. I love the slight cats eye shape and the tortoiseshell colour. I really like brown or tortoiseshell frames, especially if you're fair skinned and fair haired. They blend in and are softer against your face, unlike black frames with can look too harsh and really dominate your face.

I'm also a huge fan of an oversized frame. Much like the theory that if you carry an oversized handbag against your hip it will make your body look smaller, I think that if you wear an oversized pair of sunglasses it will make your face look smaller: perfect if you have a big old moon face like me!

I want to end this by saying that this isn't a sponsored post: I just really love sunglasses, and as soon as I saw all these bargains in my TK Maxx newsletter today, I knew I had to share!

Do you buy new sunglasses every season? Or do you manage to not break the ones you have? (If so, tell me how you keep them in one piece! I'm useless!) And do you have your new sunglasses yet?

Style in a New York minute!

Hi guys,
Style-wise, I think I'll always be a London girl. I love the eclectic, undone, mismatched style of the London girl. I love the anything-goes attitude. But as I get older I appreciate the stereotypical New York style more and more. Nails are never chipped, hair is always blow dried, outfits are simple, chic, and perfectly coordinated. It's a grown up style I'd love to emulate, but I'm just too untidy to even try.

As New York Fashion Week has just started (and in just over a week London Fashion Week will start, when I will be singing the praises of all things London again) I thought now would be the perfect time to sing the praises of New York style. Starting with my three favourite New York designers:
photo newyork1_zpsc40c6771.pngLeft to right: Alexander Wang, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs. Even on the catwalk styles are simple and chic: no animal headdresses or dresses made from human hair here!

The good news is, thanks to some of my favourite discount websites, these designers (and more of their New York friends) are more accessible than ever. Here are some of my favourite and affordable pieces that you can buy right now:

Calvin Klein red silk dress, £129, TKMaxx
Marc Jacobs pom pom dress, £174, The Outnet

I'm a sucker for a well fitting dress, and that DvF one is really calling out to me: it's such a gorgeous pattern! I think that's the key to getting this look right: pick one key stylish dress, add simple coordinating accessories, slick hair and make up, and you're ready to go!

What do you think of New York style? Do you love the coordination of it? Or are you just a scruffy London girl at heart?
