Hitting the gym in Adidas by Stella McCartney

Hi guys,
Now that Wilbur is creeping up to six months old, I've decided that it's time to reclaim my body and do something about this wobbly mummy tummy. So yesterday I joined the gym. I already swim there once a week, so it wasn't too big a leap to make the commitment to hit the gym and some classes as well. But it feels like I'm doing something positive (one small step, and all that) and I have my induction next Thursday.

Wanting to wear a bikini on the beach this summer without my tummy wobbling over the top of it is my main motivation. And to further motivate myself, I've decided I need a brand new gym bag full of brand new kit. Enter a spot of virtual shopping. Because everyone knows there is no greater motivator than hitting the shops. And when I think of fashionable gym wear, I immediately think of the Stella McCartney range for Adidas. Here is my current lust-list from the brand: photo stellaadidas_zps2c9c7be8.pngDiorite trainers, £140
Magic yellow studio performance tank, £65
Ready-to-dance bag, £90
Three quarter printed tights, £52
Essentials zip hoodie, £95

I'm not in the market for a new pair of trainers (I have a Reebok pair that I have hardly worn) but if I were, I would definitely have those neon ones: perfectly on trend! I also love that peach and grey marl hoodie: a combination of my two favourite colours (apart from black, of course!)

What do you wear when you work out? And do you have any work out clothes that you'd recommend? I'd love to hear your recommendations!!

Daily wear: London Fashion Week AW13

Hi guys,
Getting ready for day one of London Fashion Week was something of a harried affair for me - not only did I have to get up and leave Norwich at the crack of dawn, I also had to dress, feed, and settle the baby at the same time. Nightmare! However I did manage to throw some semblance of an outfit together, and I actually think I looked alright. Even if we did take the photos at the back on an NCP car park, because we were running so late!

The patterned trousers were a big move for me, as I'm so self conscious of my thunder-thighs, I never wear anything other than black tights/leggings or jeans on my legs. But I loved these when I saw them in the Topshop sale, and at £10, how could I resist?!

I was planning on wearing my studded leather jacket (which looked great with this outfit, even if I do say so myself!) but when I got to London it was so cold that I threw on my Stella McCartney mac, which was luckily on the back seat of the car. Not as on-trend as I would have liked, perhaps, but at least it's a style classic and I was definitely glad to have it when the wind started biting whilst I was queuing for the shows! And this was another bargain - I got this last year from the Stella McCartney sample sale for £90!

Did you stream or see any shows at London Fashion Week yesterday? Or are you avoiding the LFW circus altogether this weekend? And if so, what are you doing instead? I'd love to hear all about it!

What's in the window: Spring is coming!!

Hi guys,
I cannot tell you how much I am longing for Spring. I think that because the cold spell came so early this year it feels long overdue: I keep forgetting that it's only January and wanting to slip my sandals on! And apparently i'm not the only one. The boring 'Sale Now On' signs are coming down (although Topshop are hanging on in, with new 'More lines added' signs in their windows). In there place are exactly what i've been waiting for: flowers, colours, plenty of white, signs that Spring will soon be here!

And to prove it, here's what's in the shop windows this week:

I walked past this window three times, admiring the flower heads, before I noticed the beautiful dresses below. How did I miss them? The screen print patterns are breath taking. And matching bags too!

I love lazer cut outs, so these dresses immediately got my attention. I also loved the contrast between the nude and the neon on the shoes: if I had the money they'd be the perfect addition to my growing shoe collection!

This window immediately makes me think of my mum on a resort holiday. On how I long to wear crisp white shirts and not have to worry about throwing on my coat. Come on Spring: hurry up!!

Christmas wishlist: Stella McCarney hat

Photobucket
Today's Christmas wishlist item is in honour of the snow falling over almost the whole country, leaving everyone with the day off chirpy and everyone who had to trudge into work (like me!) a bit grumpy. It's also in honour of Stella McCartney, who announced the birth of her fourth child today: it's a Stella McCartney hat.

I love it's slouchy oversized shape and its subtle leopard print. I like grey as an alternative to black in the winter (where it's black coats and hats everywhere you turn) so this would be a nice wearable alternative that you could still wear everyday. It costs £155 from Net-a-porter.

TK Maxx: Shoe shopping from the comfort of your living room

I love twitter - I find out things on twitter I might otherwise never discover. It is also one of my main sources of news: it was via the medium of twitter that I learnt about the deaths of both Micheal Jackson and Brittney Murphy.

Today's most interesting tweet came from TKMaxx who said that they'd just launched a department selling shoes on their website. I had five minutes to burn, so I decided to check them out. I usually see TKMaxx as somewhere you go to rifle through rails and bag a bargain. So I was delighted to find you can buy from the comfort of your own home and the discounts are just as good.

Photobucket

There were some great Steve Madden sandals and clogs that would be perfect if you're feeling that trend for the summer (I never say never, but I can't see my feet going into clogs!) but the biggest discounts were on the Stella McCartney shoes and boots. They still aren't primark cheap, because they aren't cheap shoes to start with, but discounts of up to 72% aren't to be sniffed at!

Photobucket

The pair of boots pictured were reduced from £760 to £199. I wouldn't mind adding those to my growing wardrobe of high quality staples! The black sandals were £550 now £149.99: both by Stella. I also loved a pair of white Diesel sandals (not pictured) which are reduced from £95 to £29.99. If only they came in black or brown!

I know i've always been very pro-primark and other cheap highstreet stores (and I think I always will love these shops for cheap trend injection) but lately i'm really seeing the merits in buying quality products that will last forever, and my mission to have a strong basic wardrobe of staples is still at the forefront of my mind. I'm currently looking for a really good quality mac (with a twist) that will last forever but still have a fashion forward edge (let me know if you have any ideas!)

T K Maxx and other stores like it (Yes, i'm still daydreaming about Bicester village) make products of a better brand and quality more accessible to girls on a tight-ish budget like me!
